Another Biblioblogger List

This time it’s from J. K. Gayle at Aristotle’s Feminist Subject.  I’m not getting into this debate.  In general, I’m going to link to any list that has me on it (it’s a nice thank you, I think), and to any list that I find interesting (that’s a service to my readers).

I’m honestly not that sure this should be called a biblioblog anyhow.  I don’t post things for scholars, generally.  I actually set the blog up to allow me to write on topics I’m teaching on in various Sunday School classes, and to separate musings about particular texts from more general “opinion” blogging.  When I wasn’t listed on the old biblioblog top 50, which was right up until the last couple of months, it seemed appropriate.

On the other hand, I appreciate Jeremy doing all that work.  Jeremy – the cowbell idea is a winner!

  1. Thanks for the link and the insights here. Your pointing out that you don’t see how your blog is a biblio one gets right to “this debate” in a way. Somebody’s calling the shots here, is defining what’s what and who’s who (and who gets to say, really, when gender counts and when a comment on the Bible does?) I wasn’t nearly so explicit with my intentions but some might (rightly) read that list at my blog the way I read Gloria Steinem’s glorious, intentional essay “If Men Could Menstruate.” Do Matthew, Daniel, Kris, Calvin, Elisée Ouoba, P. W. Dunn, Moussa Bongoyok, Richard Houmegni, Abel Ngarsoulede, Jeremiah Bailey, P. W. Dunn, and Jeremy Barrier really belong on the (women’s) list, on their own merits?

    1. Well, I wasn’t intending my comment as really joining the debate. It was more, “Wow! I’m surprised they listed me as a biblioblog.” I do comment on the Bible, but I’m only rarely trying to interact with Biblical scholarship or to address Biblical scholars. But that’s kind of a personal standard. Others see it differently. I’m OK with their list and with yours, because they are unofficial. Now if the government was doing it, I’d probably get tense …
