Some People Did It (Katrina Relief)
I want to recommend a story from MSNBC that illustrates how many officials and private individuals managed to respond to Hurricane Katrina. The key element in their response was thinking outside the box, or to use the term I used in my previous post, they were architects of the spaces.
The article is Surviving the storm, by hook or by crook.
The key element here is that while many government officials at higher levels were trying to check things off in some kind of order, local officials were responding quickly to the needs. There are those who believe that they have to stick to the plan, but disasters, whether the result of human actions or natural, don’t work according to plan.
I congratulate these folks along the Mississippi coast, and all those from outside the state who helped them with needed, rapid relief.
