I’ve gone out on a limb and upgraded to WordPress 3.0 Beta 1, after trying it on a couple of test sites. It’s really working quite well. I’m rearranging some of the pieces of the blog. Everything should be working in the meantime, except that a few sidebar items may be missing.
Christian Carnival CXLIX has been posted at Touring with Virgil. As always, there are some interesting posts, this time including one of mine from Threads rather than from the Participatory Bible Study blog. Again I have good intentions about commenting on a few posts, but I rarely get beyond one or two a week.
My profound sympathy and my prayers go to Rick Warren, whose 27-year-old son committed suicide. May God bring comfort and healing.

As an exercise in math illiteracy it would be hard (though likely possible) to beat How to Pick Your Powerball Numbers from ABC News. If you are allowed to work without context (sample size, population size, etc) you can make anything sound useful.
