I’ve replaced my poll on Origen with a new one, this time asking what reason causes you to spend the most time reading the Bible. I’m interested in the results. In my personal experience I have heard people express all of these reasons. You’ll find the poll in the right sidebar.

Energion.com Domain Problems
I don’t know how many folks here go to Energion.com, but I know a number come here from there. It is my original domain from before I published books. It has a number of essays from my pre-blog days and now serves more as an aggregator and central hub. Unfortunately, we had some problem with the domain record. Yes, I paid my bill. The name servers changed, though it doesn’t appear to be a highjack. In any case, I expect that domain to be accessible again sometime in the next 24 hours or so.
This domain (energionpubs.com) is not impacted by this issue.

New AmazonConnect Blog
I’ve created an AmazonConnect blog. I won’t be creating new posts, but they now allow authors to syndicate posts from elsewhere which then show up on book detail pages on Amazon.com. I created the category “Author Related” for posts that I want to syndicate, and I’m using the category feed. Generally administrative announcements such as this one will not be included along with Asides. Other than the new category there will be no change here. I will syndicate selected posts from my Participatory Bible Study Blog and The Jevlir Caravansary there as well.

Presuppositions
I’m not generally presuppositionalist myself, but this post in an interesting discussion on young earth creationism is part of an interesting discussion. Check it out.
-
Miniposts
I first saw these on Pursuing Holiness, and tried them on Participatory Bible Study and Jevlir, but now I want them here. They are just too convenient for those links and one-liners.

New Year Blog Dressup
I spent a good bit of time yesterday dressing up my blogs for the new year. This unseemly waste of time on the merely visual probably came to pass because I’m fighting a cold.
I like to keep my three blogs, this original Threads blog, and the two I derived from it (Participatory Bible Study Blog, and the Jevlir Caravansary) similar in appearance. I’ve used the same theme on all three with a different header image and different sidebar arrangements.
For those who may be new to Threads, I created the Participatory Bible Study Blog in order to separate material strictly on Biblical exegesis from the more general “religion and society” theme of this blog, and the Jevlir Caravansary to separate out my occasional flights into fiction or poetry writing. While Threads is my personal blog, I do stay closer to my professional work in religious education here. My life is divided these days between writing and teaching on the one hand, and continuing computer business on the other. As I’ve developed the teaching ministry, I’ve spent less and less time on the computers. In turn, the computer business is divided into managing networks for small businesses, which provides a steady income, and the occasional spurt of activity producing custom software. It will probably surprise nobody who is involved in any ministry work that while I spend probably 80%+ of my time on the writing/teaching, and 20% on the computer related business, a majority of my income still comes via technology. I call it modern tentmaking.
As for the new year, my plan (business plan, not resolution) involves putting more time into writing, especially for print, and spreading the other work around.
A blessed New Year to all!

Happy New Year!
I’m starting the new year with a new theme for this blog. I’ll be using a similar theme for both my Threads and Jevlir Caravansary blogs. The basic design is from here. All I have modified is the header image.

Continued Database Problems
I’m continuing to have considerable database problems. I’m keeping a close eye on the blog and I can bring it back up easily, but it’s not looking very stable. It’s possible I may change to a different provider for my server. In the meantime, I ask for patience!
Update: I’m testing a change in the database access. I’d appreciate comments on any problems. If you can’t make comments work, e-mail me, henry at energion.com.

Moderate Christian Blogroll Change
The RSS feed for the Moderate Christian blogroll, useful for putting links in your sidebar, will be changing. Since many of the blogroll members don’t read the blogroll admin blog, I’m putting the announcement here as well. The old feed will be going away, and the new feed is already active. If you are using this feed to display links to the blogroll members, please change the link.
The new feed is: http://ncs.hneufeld.com/?bdprssfeed=1.
I had to make this change because the level of traffic on this blog got beyond a couple of administrative items, and it isn’t because of blog readership. It appears to be the overhead of the aggregator software that caused the problem.
Note: If you’ve had problems getting this blog over the last couple of days, it’s because of this problem. I know the blog has been down at least three times.
