Chuck Baldwin maintains that the birth of our Savior and the birth of our nation are closely linked. I’m afraid I don’t get it, even allowing all his facts, some of which I would dispute. I just don’t see the parallel between the guns of the revolution and the Babe of Bethlehem emptying himself of divinity to come save us.
What do you think?
He didn’t empty himself of divinity when he came to earth!
To suggest that is indeed bad theology.
While I perhaps should have qualified the sentence, as a short description, I think that does for kenosis. Jesus, in the incarnation, temporarily empties himself and leaves certain divine attributes, such as omnipresence, behind voluntarily. While my phraseology could be read as meaning that Jesus quit being divine (something I do not believe), that was not my intent.
