Mississippi Legislator Wants to Play Nanny

His bill would require restaurants not to serve certain things to people who are obese. You know, those teenagers behind the counter at McDonalds would determine whether you are obese or not. More here at Junk Food Science with hat tips to The Agitator and Dispatches.

    Not surprising. I think the success of getting laws banning smoking in public places has emboldened people to believe that they can get just about any health related behavior regulated by the government.

    I personally liked the results of the smoking ban, but hated the idea of the government forcing it in place, for the primary reason that it justifies just what you see in the Mississippi legislature on food now.

      On this I agree 100%. I’m glad to have areas without smokers, but I do think it opened things up for very undesirable long-term results.
