  • Breaking Homeless (and other) Stereotypes

The title of this blog, Threads from Henry’s Web, suggests that I’m the one producing the threads and hopefully drawing you in. But often the threads are leading me somewhere. Some things happened in just the last couple of weeks:

    • A conversation with an author about a new book talking about those living on the fringe of society. (Yes, we’re going to publish it. Watch for announcements on Energion Publications news.)
    • A book of poetry that evoked some startlingly strong and stark images for me (also to be published)
    • Work on a web site for a local community ministry (Pensacola United Methodist Community Ministries), that involved a good conversation about what they hope to accomplish in the community here. Watch for some big and exciting changes in their web site!
    • The video I’ll link below.

    Think about it.

Others may not be what you imagine them to be.

  • Pelicans Win 5-2

The Pensacola Pelicans won 5-2 against the Lincoln Salt Dogs tonight. Our son John Webb was not pitching. I understand he’ll be starting in Sioux Falls on Tuesday night, but our guest Brandon Sing hit a 2 run homer as well as a double, going 2 for 4. Following the double he reached third on a wild pitch and then scored on a fly ball to center (if memory serves). I may post a picture/clip or two tomorrow.

This makes the Pelicans 3 of 4 in the series. I missed the nasty loss (14 to 8) because I was attending a wedding, so I’ve gotten to see three straight victories.

  • Penscola AUSCS and ACLU Reps on Kenneth Lamb’s Show

This is of local interest along the Florida-Alabama gulf coast.

Kennneth E. Lamb is hosting of “Your Turn” program from 4 til 6PM on Thursday 3 May 2007. Bill Caplinger of AU and Susan Watson of ACLU local chapters will be guesting. I know both of these folks, and they should be worth hearing. I won’t be able to get to hear the show myself due to conflicts.

The show is on 1330AM WEBY.

Personally I don’t like Kenneth Lamb’s show all that much, but Bill and Susan should be able to make their voices heard. (Come to think of it, I just don’t like talk radio. It’s a personal prejudice.)
