according to ABC News. These are the folks who were wrongfully jailed for 8 years. I rejoice, but continue to regard with horror the fact that humanitarians such as this could be imprisoned because of ignorance that ought to be criminal. People stupid enough to jail these folks shouldn’t be allowed to drive cars, much less have guns and run countries.

Maybe, but do you intend to do something about it? Was it Reagan who tried to do something about Gaddafi before? If assassination doesn’t work (and is anyway illegal), do you propose another Iraq?
And then what if I, not an American, reported on some of the innocents in Guantanamo Bay and wrote “People stupid enough to jail these folks shouldnt be allowed to … run countries”? Might you not reply that it is none of my business, it is up to Americans to choose their own president?

No, I don’t propose another invasion, and my comment was perhaps intemperate, but I really do think this one was a case of extreme stupidity on the part of a government.
Indeed, it was extreme stupidity. Sadly every government sometimes shows extreme stupidity, which usually starts from over-reaction to some minor grounds for suspicion and a reluctance to admit that one is wrong, especially in emotive tragedies like children with AIDS or terrorist atrocities. Here in the UK there were several serious miscarriages of justice in relation to IRA terrorism. There have been lots of accusations relating to Iraq and Guantanamo Bay. Why do these get less publicity than similar cases involving perceived enemy countries?
