  • Today at the John Webb Winter Golf Tournament

I will be spending most of the day at the golf tournament, or doing preparation or cleaning up. As I have time, I will tweet from there or do a little live blogging, and even possibly post some pictures.

We’re raising money for the child life program at Sacred Heart Hospital here in Pensacola. Check it out!

  • Christian Carnival Archive

I have created a new Christian Carnival Archive, which includes posts to date, and also links to the previous archives, so that you can have one central place from which to locate all available Christian Carnival editions.

  • Cleaning Blogroll

One more administrative post for the day–I’m cleaning my blogroll. I am removing many links that are duplicated with the external blogrolls I display (Moderate Christian Blogroll, Unright Christian Blogs, Philophronos Blogroll, and the Methoblog). I am also removing defunct blogs.

If your blog disappeared from the roll completely, and it’s not defunct, please let me know. The removal was unintentional.

  • Broad Category Feeds

For those who may be interested only in part of the subject matter of this blog, I have created three broad category feeds:

I will include posts that cross the boundaries of two of these in both of the tags so you’ll get them if you subscribe to that feed.

  • Moving to Feedburner

. . . or I might say feedproxy from Google.

Many of you may not be aware, but I do make part of my income from writing, and I wanted to have the opportunity to show just a small ad with my posts. I earlier had a post in which I asked whether people preferred the entire post in their reader, or whether they liked the “read more” link. The majority prefer to get everything in their reader. So I went along with that.

So I decided, after seeing it in a number of other posts, to use adsense to add just a little ad at the end of each post. I don’t like feeds and e-mails that are largely advertising with just a little bit of content. When I add the adsense code I will restrict it from very small posts (under 250 words), so that it won’t appear on posts that just link to another person’s post, for example.

I hope this will be tolerable. I also note that some of my posts were duplicated in the feed during the update process. I’m not sure precisely what caused this. I’m assuming it won’t happen more than once.

I appreciate all my readers and subscribers. Thanks for your time!

  • Problems with WP-Supercache

I discovered on one of my occasional rounds of checking sites with other browsers (I normally use the most current version of Firefox under Ubuntu Linux) that IE7 was not showing the current front page. That resulted in a check of WP-Supercache, which was no longer serving cached pages. Firefox had gone back to serving the current PHP. IE7 was getting the expired cache page.

I’m not sure if there was an initial install/configuration error or if I accidentally changed something. In any case, it appears to be working now. I’ll be checking this regularly, but if you see anything that seems strange (other than my ideas!) please e-mail me, and I’ll check it out.

  • Note on Crossposted Reviews

I’m cross-posting several reviews and notes from my Jevlir Caravansary site where I will no longer be reviewing just to get things started.  I will also occasionally cross-post from my other blogs where I occasionally review non-fiction.  Normally, posts here will not be crossposted from elsewhere.

  • Welcome!

This is the new Energion.com Book Notes Blog, which will be replacing my book reviews and notes posted on The Jevlir Caravansary.  That blog was originally intended as a place to post my own fiction and poetry writing as well as links to other fiction and poetry available on the web.  At first I added book and movie reviews in order to keep the blog busier.  Then I did so as a convenient place to park them for presentation here.

Over time they became a distraction there as people came to view that blog as mostly a review blog.  So in self-defense, I’m moving the reviews here and keeping my own writing there.

Watch here for new recommended books, short notes and full length reviews, as well as links to reviews elsewhere on the web.
